Shortening an URL

Robyn: Sometimes you want to send an URL to someone or post an URL on something like Twitter and it's just too long to post. To shorten it go to bit.ly
Cut and paste the URL you want to shorten from your URL bar into the 'Shorten' box then click on 'Shorten'. You will see your link pop up in a box underneath this. Run your cursor over the shortened URL and you will see a blue arrow that says 'Click to copy'. You can then paste it wherever you want to use it. I changed
http://www.gtce.org.uk/teachers/rft/pup_learn0605/pup_learn0605cs/casestudy5/ to http://bit.ly/dBakSv .

Google Wheel

Robyn: This is a great little 'secret' from Google - great for kids to refine their search. I use it myself if I'm not quite sure what I want to look for. Go to Google and type in a topic that you want to look at then press return. Once you get to the list of pages, if you look at the menu at the left you'll see 'Wonder Wheel' click on this and wait to see what happens. Once you get the wheel you can click on any of the topics and get more and more and so on.Screen_shot_2010-07-26_at_8.12.01_PM.png
